SUMMARY:Humanities and Media Studies
DESCRIPTION:The multimedia exhibition disassembles and reinserts Mexican and queer feminine cultural markers through engagement with textures of everyday life. The superimposition of photography\, archival images\, video\, poetry\, and sculpture engages with multiplicity and contradictions of experience. I unbend the corners of myself that have been compressed and flattened by code switching and surviving colonial institutions and place the spotlight on the performativity of gender and race to offer a portrayal of becoming. \nReception: May 12\, 7–10PM \nOpen to the public. SUMMARY:Art and Design Education
DESCRIPTION:Curating Learning showcases the work of ADE seniors at the culmination of the program as they curate their experiences as artists\, cultural producers\, and learners. The research projects and related artworks created emphasize student interdisciplinary connections and reflections on how knowledge is constructed and facilitated through teaching\, learning\, and curating. Students integrate theory and practice through reflection and research in the field of art and design education. Students develop their voices as emerging professionals as they synthesize their learning in studio\, liberal arts\, art and design education\, and pre-service teaching as well as co-curricular experiences in both formal and informal settings. Working across media and informed by their own research\, they created projects that ultimately highlight their perspective on integrating their learning across the studio\, classroom\, and community. \nFeaturing work by the following graduates:\nKatherine Bauhs\nBrianna Collins\nLacey Costantine\nAnn Feng\nSarah Lenaghan \nWednesdays\, April 27 and May 4\, 12:30PM–3:20PM \nNot open to the public

SUMMARY:School of Art Dean's Office & Digital Arts
DESCRIPTION:quick response is an interactive outdoor exhibition in the heart of Pratt Institute’s Brooklyn campus designed by a team of first-year Interactive Arts and Animation & Motion Arts MFA candidates from the Department of Digital Arts. The exhibition uses augmented reality\, QR codes\, and p5.js to create viewer experiences that uncover the inner workings of the Pratt campus and the Facilities team that keeps it running\, much like the generator that the exhibition surrounds. The unique scale\, 90” high and spanning widths up to 1\,300”\, challenges the students to address the impact and significance of the work in a larger-than-life arena. The projects within the exhibition are triggered with Spark AR (an augmented reality platform) and QR codes (which stands for quick response code)\, a two dimensional bar code invented in the mid ’90s. Since March 2020\, QR codes have become an integral part of our daily lives. In addition to acting as phones\, cameras\, and tiny computers\, our constant digital companions create liminal worlds between our lived physical experiences and the networked world we rely on for information and communication. Of all the computational concepts these young artists grapple with in their studies—time\, memory\, data\, switches (boolean logic)—the loop is where animation and computer science converge. A loop in a computer program is an instruction that repeats until a specified condition is reached; looping in an animation causes a movement to repeat. The Generator Project itself is a loop and\, like electrons through a circuit\, viewers must physically move around the installation to view and interact with the exhibition in its entirety. \nArtists: \n\nFaculty Lead: Visiting Instructor rebecca (marks) leopold\nEmily Cooperstein\, MFA DDA Interactive Arts ‘23\nManman Li\, MFA DDA Interactive Arts ‘23\nMaleigha Michael\, MFA DDA Animation and Motion Arts ‘23\nDaichen Wang\, MFA DDA Interactive Arts ‘23\nShanshan Wang\, MFA DDA Interactive Arts ‘23\nZhuolin Wu\, MFA DDA Interactive Arts ‘23\nChangcheng Yang\, MFA DDA Interactive Arts ‘23\nHaonan Zhao\, MFA DDA Animation and Motion Arts ‘23\n\nOpening reception: Monday\, April 25\, 5–7PM\nOpen to the public. SUMMARY:Communications Design Illustration/Fine Arts
DESCRIPTION:In This Dream It’s Not On Fire is an illustrative installation project that blurs the boundaries between interior and exterior worlds. It is about bedrooms\, nostalgia\, travel\, and anxiety\, part travelog\, part dream\, and part museum of self. Through a mixture of drawing/collage\, ceramics\, film\, audio\, writing\, and other elements\, the installation is a portrait of the artist extended into the world and reflected back inward. \nReception: South Hall Foyer\nInstallation: South Hall Basement 002 \nOpen to the public. Registration is required.
